Over the last 7 years St Gerard’s Club have raised nearly £50k for various charities that have included Help for Heroes, St Catherine’s Hospice, Derian House, North West Air Ambulance and the LEP Scanner appeal to name but a few.
During 2013 The Club chose the following charities to support, St Catherine’s Hospice, Motor Neurone Research and Whiz Kids (wheelchairs for kids)
This year Steve Pettman ran his first ever Marathon in London in a highly respectable 3hrs 40 mins and he managed to raise a fantastic £5000 for the 2013 charities. Other notable achievements from members of St Gerard’s, Ron Benson and Darren Ellison who completed a two man bike ride from Liverpool to Leeds along the canal path and raised over £2000 for the cause. The club Manager Gary Quinn held a 4 day beer festival during September and that also raised over £2000. Other raffles and football cards raised £2000 and donations from members throughout the year raised over £3000
All of these fantastic achievements have meant that this year St Gerard’s have smashed last year’s total of £10k and managed to raise a staggering £14’000
This year, 2014, St Gerard’s Club have decided to nominate the Prostate Cancer Charity as the sole benefactor for the clubs fund raising activities and hope to again beat the total raised last year. Steve Pettman has already been allocated a place in this year’s London Marathon and has also been accepted to run in the Berlin Marathon in September and will be delighted to be running both marathons for this year’s chosen charity Prostate Cancer.
