In 1858 the Immaculate Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous near Lourdes in France, in the grotto of Massabielle. Through the poor child, Mary called sinners to penance, and thereby there arose in the Church a marvelous spirit of prayer and charity, especially in helping the poor and the sick.  Starting on Saturday 8th February we are trying to re-create the experience of a Lourdes Pilgrimage, (See page 9)  The ‘Pilgrimage’ has been fitted around our Weekend Masses with the elements of Reconciliation, Exposition, the Sacrament of the Sick, the Solemnity Mass on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes 11th February followed by a torchlight procession to the Grotto (inside if weather poor).
