There are many Parish Groups, some are more active than others.
|Advisory Group||Our Parish Advisory group meet about 4 times a year to discuss with and advise the Parish Priest on various matters concerning the parish. If you are interested in joining the group please contact Father Joe direct.|
|Altar Servers||We are always looking to increase the number of Altar Servers. This is open to anyone once they have received their first Holy Communion and we recommend starting after finishing the Sacramental programme.|
|Blessed Sacrament Guild||The Main aims of the B.S.G. are to assist, support and advise our Parish Priest in the life of the parish when requested. Our Guild Mass is on the first Sunday of every month.|
The Guild is less active, as in previous years, but helps out at Christmas and Summer Fairs, Senior Citizen’s party, the Lourdes Mass, Sunday Collectors, Cemetery and grounds maintenance. Wednesday Bingo is run by members and raises money for parish funds.
On the spiritual side, the Rosary is said at various venues around the village in October and the Stations of the Cross on the four Fridays in the run-up to Easter. All are welcome to attend.
Like all parish groups we require new blood, either active or spiritual – all men of the parish will be made most welcome. Membership subscription is £2.00 per year. Once a Guild member, always a Guild member!
|Bowling Club||The Bowling Club has been established for many years and has teams in various local leagues. It has a history of its own and you can read more about it by clicking here.|
|Catechists & Sacramental Programme||The Sacramental Programme is organised by Cathechists and Teachers from our School. Sessions are held in the evenings and more information can be found on the Sacramental Programme pages by clicking here.|
|Children’s Liturgy Group|
The Children’s Liturgy Group takes place during the 10 am Mass on Sunday. Some of the helpers have been actively involved for many years and their own children are now grown up! We need more people who are in direct contact with the primary school. There are fewer children attending the 10 am Mass now than there were a few years ago and it would be good to encourage more young families to come along. The parents benefit from having some peace and quiet during the Mass!
The programme followed by the children is a simplified version of the Liturgy of the Word for each Sunday and there is a wide range of activities led by the committed team.
|Choir||Our choir numbers are dwindling and we need new members all the time. If you attend the Sunday morning Mass and would like to join them please do, you will be made very welcome.|
|Drama Group||‘The Mustard Seed Drama Group’ put on various performances during the year and a Pantomime as well. If you are interested in joining please contact them via the telephone number in News & Views our monthly magazine.|
|Fund Raising Group||The group meets approximately once a month and new members and new ideas are always welcome. Please see the weekly bulletin for the date of the next meeting.|
|Piety Shop||Our Piety Shop team run a well-stocked Piety Shop which is open before and after Mass on Saturday evening and Sunday mornings.|
|Sacred Heart Guild||The Guild is known affectionately as the ‘Ladies Guild’ has been in existence for many decades and the current Chair Person Mrs. Mary Hardman is a second generation member of the Guild. They meet on the second Thursday of the month at 7 pm in the Parochial Centre Lounge for a social gathering, where Bingo and refreshments are available. The Guild members assist the parish during the year at the Christmas Fair and Summer Fairs and at the Annual Lourdes Mass procession where they escort Our Lady’s statue around the church.|
|Senior Citizens Group||The Senior Citizens meet for a ‘Get Together’ in the Parochial Centre every month. They enjoy a game or two of Bingo which is followed by afternoon tea. The annual Christmas Party takes place in early December and is enjoyed by all who attend.|
