THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER

Today the Gospel tells us about one of the most dramatic and inspiring of the resurrection appearances of Jesus: “The Road to Emmaus”. Two of the disciples leave Jerusalem despondent, the dream is over.  They walk away. Someone walks with them along the 7 mile road, listens to their story and then begins to explain things. “Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us along the road. And then they recognise Him at the breaking of bread. Do we recognise the presence of God and have the courage to stop walking away and turn back to our true calling?  He is Risen, Alleluia!
