News & Views August 2021 –

The Assumption of Our Lady 15th August –    The Assumption is the oldest feast day of Our Lady, its origin is lost in those days when Jerusalem was restored as a sacred city, at the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (c. 285-337). By then it had been a pagan city for two centuries, ever since Emperor Hadrian (76-138) had levelled it around the year 135 and rebuilt it in honour of Jupiter.    This year this Holy Day of Obligation falls on a Sunday and there is No Obligation for Sunday Mass at the moment.

Covid-19 –    We have made very few changes to our response to Covid-19.  Face Masks and hand sanitising are still required and social distancing is still in place.   We will continue to assess the situation locally over the coming weeks and will update the parish when necessary via the weekly newsletter.  To receive a link to that weekly sign up on our webpage.
