Holy Mass: “The Eucharist is the source and the summit of Christian life”. This is the teaching of Vatican II and is reaffirmed in the catechism of the Catholic Church. Through the celebration of Mass, Christ is truly present in our midst. Come to Mass with us to experience the presence of God.
Sunday Masses are celebrated at 5:30 pm on Saturday evening and 10.30am on a Sunday.
Weekday Masses are celebrated on Tuesday and Thursday at 9.15am.
Services of the Word and Holy Communion are held on Monday at 6:30 pm and Wednesday at 9:15 am
Eucharistic Adoration: This takes place on Monday Evening from 6 pm to 6:30 pm
Confessions: Saturday 5.00 – 5.15pm
Baptisms: To arrange a Baptism please call the parish office on 01772 335387 between 9-12pm. (Mon – Fri). Parents are expected to attend 2 Baptism Preparation meetings before a Baptism can take place. If people have not been in the practice of attending church regularly, they are asked to attend Mass for a period of six weeks prior to the Baptism to help them to be spiritually prepared for the sacrament and to get into the habit of practicing the Faith.
Confirmations: Young people will be offered the chance to prepare to be confirmed when they are in Year 8 at High School (aged 12+)
Becoming a Catholic: If you are interested in becoming a catholic, please contact the parish office to arrange an appointment with the priest to discuss how to go about it and what will be involved.
Weddings: To arrange a Wedding please call the parish office on 01772 335387 between 9-12pm. (Mon – Fri) to arrange an appointment to meet with a priest to discuss the possibility of getting married.
Sacrament of the Sick: If you, a family member or someone you know is suffering serious illness, please inform the parish so that a priest can visit and offer them the Sacrament of the Sick.
Last Rites: If someone you know is in danger of death please contact the parish so that the priest and can visit and offer the prayers of commendation for someone close to death.
Funerals: A catholic funeral takes the form of either a Requiem Mass or a Funeral Service outside of Mass. When arranging a funeral, please contact a Funeral Director who will liaise with the parish as regards the date and time. A member of the parish team will contact you to discuss arrangements.
Burials: Our Lady of Lourdes and St Gerard Majella has a cemetery behind the church. Only people who have lived in the Parish or have a close family connection can be buried in the Parish Cemetery. We cannot reserve burial plots in advance.
