The 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

In the gospel today Jesus calls together the Twelve Disciples, he instructs them and then he sends them out to preach the good news. He calls us here today to Mass so that we can be nourished and instructed by Him and then sent out into our lives in the world so that we might share the Gospel message. The word “Mass” comes from the Latin “Missa” which means “to be sent”. Thus, we come to Mass with the very purpose of being sent out again! The dismissal at Mass is an order: “GO” is in the imperative voice, sending us out to take Christ into our lives and our world: “Ite Missa est”; “Go, it has been sent”.
