Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday)

The Paschal Mystery; the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus, is the single most important event in the history of human existence.
And yet it is not merely an event in history; it transcends time and space to be a real and true event in our present time and in our locality.

Today we hear how Thomas was not with the disciples when Jesus appeared to them on Easter Sunday, but, “Eight days later”, Thomas is there
and he sees the risen Lord and is filled with faith: “My Lord and my God!” On this Eighth Easter Day, may we all recognise our Risen Lord as we gather for the Eucharist. Alleluia! He is risen indeed!
